Finnish Parliament has extended the coronavirus exemptions

The Finnish Parliament has extended the increase of the exempt amount of unemployment security until the end of June. At the same time, the relaxation of the mobility allowance terms has also been extended.

Increasing the exempt amount

During the emergency measures, the exempt amount of unemployment security has been increased to EUR 500 per month. The increased exempt amount has been coming to an end, but the Finnish Parliament has extended it until 30 June 2021.

The increased exempt amount will be valid as a result of the change when the application period begins no later than 30 June 2021. After that, i.e. in the application periods beginning on 1 July 2021 and after, the exempt amount will return to EUR 300.

Mobility allowance

With the change now approved, you will be able to receive mobility allowance for full-time work started as an unemployed person on the basis of a commute of more than two hours when the employment relationship starts no later than 30 June 2021.  If the employment relationship starts on 1 July 2021, the requirement for commuting is three hours.

Advance payment

In certain circumstances , we may pay earnings-related daily allowance before issuing a decision. Temporarily, we have been able to pay earnings-related daily allowance for a maximum of six months as an advance. This possibility has been extended until 30 June 2021, as well. We can therefore apply a longer advance payment if the first day of the application is before 1 July 2021.

Specific adjustment period

We will only use the specific adjustment period again in the application periods beginning on or after 1 July 2021.
