We can pay a daily allowance for the waiting period

Because of the temporary changes to law, we can make an exception and pay earnings-related daily allowance without the waiting period that normally is at the beginning of your unemployment or lay-off.

Sometimes people talk about a suspension period (karenssi in Finnish). Usually it refers to the days of the waiting period at the beginning of unemployment, the days for which no allowance is paid. However, during the corona epidemic, we can ignore the waiting period and pay the daily allowance immediately when you become unemployed or are laid off.

Entry into force
