How do I join the YTK when transferring from another unemployment fund?
It’s easy. Join us. When joining, authorise us to terminate your previous unemployment fund membership on your behalf. That’s all!
If you join the YTK from another unemployment fund, this is what you should do:
Fill in and send an electronic membership application.
Check your e-mail.
Once you receive a message saying your membership has been approved:
Send a resignation notice to your previous unemployment fund. If you wish, you can give us the right to take care of the matter for you when filling in the YTK membership application. In that case, you don’t need to worry about the resignation notice at all.
Notify your payroll department to stop collecting the membership fees of the previous unemployment fund.
NB! We only have the permission to take care of resigning from the unemployment fund for you. If you wish to cancel your membership in a trade union as well, you must notify the trade union yourself.
Transferring from another unemployment fund and the first membership fee
When filling out your application for a YTK-membership, you can authorise us to manage your resignation from the previous unemployment fund if you wish. In this case, you do not have to worry about the termination notification yourself.
When you give us permission to terminate the previous unemployment fund's membership, we will send information about the authorization to the previous unemployment fund and ask them to terminate the membership there until the day before we join.
This will be done as soon as the application form arrives if the form does not show any obstacle to join.
At this point, however, the membership fee is still unpaid. If you do not take care of the membership fee, we will later have to reject your membership application due to the unpaid membership fee. Since the difference from the previous unemployment fund has already been registered, in that case, you are no longer a member of any unemployment fund. This may result in you losing the working condition you previously collected.

Many trade unions have an electronic resignation form on their website that you can use. Also remember to inform your payroll department that the membership fee of the trade union no longer needs to be charged.
