Lay-off
If you are laid off, you can apply for earnings-related daily allowance from us. First register at the TE Office as a job-seeker. When the lay-off has lasted for two weeks, you can send the first application for earnings-related daily allowance to us. If the duration of the lay-off is less than two weeks, send your application when the lay-off ends.
I was laid off, what should I do?
- First you need to register at the TE Office as a job-seeker. That should be done on the first day of the lay-off at the latest, because daily allowance will only be paid starting from registering as a job-seeker.
The easiest way to register is on the TE Office website. - When the lay-off has lasted for two weeks, you can send the first application for earnings-related daily allowance to us. If the duration of the lay-off is shorter than that, you can send your application as soon as the lay-off period ends. The easiest way to send the application is by using our online service OmaYTK.
If your unemployment or lay-off continues, follow the application period proposed by OmaYTK, which is four weeks or one month. Change the application period only if we ask you to, or if you are no longer laid off. If you change the application period, we may not be able to process your application automatically, and it will take us longer to process your application.
Please remember that we can only pay daily allowance retroactively for a period of three months. - So you should send your application to us within three months from the date from which on you wish to apply for daily allowance. The same three-month period also applies to all subsequent applications.
