You need to agree on the job alternation leave with your employer. You can get a job alternation leave form from the TE Office or at the www.suomi.fi service.
Your employer must hire an unemployed jobseeker as your substitute for the duration of your job alternation leave. The substitute need not work at the same tasks as you, but the working hours should be at least the same. You can find a suitable substitute yourself or ask the TE Office to help you. Job alternation compensation will not be paid for the period of job alternation leave during which a substitute is not hired.
It is very important that you ask your employer to send the job alternation contract to the TE Office BEFORE the start of your job alternation leave. In addition to the job alternation contract, you need to send to the TE Office an employment contract or other reliable proof that a substitute has been hired for the duration of your job alternation leave. Without those documents, the TE Office will not give a statement on the case, and without a statement, we cannot pay the job alternation compensation.
Once you have made the job alternation contract, you can fill in an application for job alternation compensation and send it to us. You can fill in the application for job alternation compensation electronically in OmaYTK or download the application form here. The salary certificate should show unpaid absences and the information on whether you will continue to receive any fringe benefits during your job alternation leave. Remember to apply for the job alternation compensation within three months from the start of your job alternation leave. You should submit the application at the beginning of the leave; that way, we can pay the job alternation compensation as soon as possible.
