What to do when I am no longer laid off?

If you wish, you can also notify the TE Office of the termination of lay-off if they have not had any information about its duration.

The layoff ends and you return to work

Apply for a daily allowance until the last day of lay-off and indicate that you are returning to work or have found other employment.

Lay-off ends with termination

Report in the daily allowance application if the employment relationship ends. If you are entitled to severance pay, we cannot pay earnings-related daily allowance for the same period. Read more about severance pay.

Lay-off ends with resignation

Report in the daily allowance application if the employment relationship ends. You should also report the matter to the TE Office. The TE Office will investigate whether you have had a valid reason to resign. If this has not been the case, there may be a fixed period for which no benefit is paid. According to the Employment Contracts Act, you can terminate the employment contract during the lay-off without a period of notice, subject to certain conditions. In that case, the period of notice will not affect the payment of the daily allowance in any way.

According to the Employment Contracts Act, you can end a prolonged lay-off without losing the right to receive severance pay. In these cases, you retain the right to receive severance pay, and we cannot pay earnings-related daily allowance for the same period. Read more about periods of notice.
