What to do when my maximum payment period ends?
When your maximum payment period ends, we will send you a notification. If you are still unemployed, you can apply for labour market support from Kela.
My maximum payment period ends, and I am still unemployed
When your maximum payment period ends, we will send you a decision. You can read the decision in the OmaYTK service.
If you are still unemployed, you can apply for labour market support from Kela. Kela will give you instructions on how to apply for labour market support.
The new maximum payment period
The new maximum payment period requires that you meet the working condition. When you meet the working condition, you will receive a new maximum payment period, regardless of whether you have days left in your previous maximum payment period or not.
How you build up your working condition does not depend on the maximum payment period. You are therefore building up a working condition for the new maximum pay period every time you work in a specified way and keep your membership valid in the unemployment fund.
Even if your maximum payment period ends and you start to apply for labour market support, you should keep your membership in the unemployment fund. You can only build up your working condition for a new maximum payment period of earnings-related daily allowance if you are a member.
Additional days
If you are entitled to additional days of earnings-related allowance, we can continue to pay the earnings-related daily allowance even if your maximum payment period has ended.
