Alternation leave means a voluntary arrangement between the employee and the employer, where the employee is relieved from performing their duties agreed upon in their work agreement, temporarily according to the alternation agreement. The employer correspondingly commits to hiring an unemployed jobseeker registered at the TE offices for the same duration of time. This precondition gives an unemployed jobseeker the possibility to temporary employment. For the employee, the purpose of alternation leave is to promote their wellbeing at work.
We can pay you alternation compensation for the alternation leave if your membership in YTK has lasted for at least 26 weeks before the beginning of the first alternation period. The SII pays your alternation compensation in case you are a newer member than that. You can take alternation leave from full-time employment or part-time employment in which the working hours are over 75% of the full-time employee’s working hours in the field.
