YTK is Finland’s biggest unemployment fund and open to all employees. We already have over 350.000 members, which is about 14% of Finnish employees. YTK provides you earnings-related unemployment security with 118€ per year.
Our office is located in Loimaa in Finland Proper. We have approximately 130 employees taking care of our members’ business. Our main task is to take care of our members’ earnings-related unemployment security in a flexible, cost efficient and reliable manner and to give our customers kind and professional service in all matters concerning unemployment security. Our goal is also to support the flexibility of Finnish working life and good employment.
YTK was founded on 21.8.1991 and The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health gave us a license on 17.9.1991. The insurance activities were started on 1.1.1992. We provide employees from different fields with earnings security, defined in the unemployment security legislation, while unemployed and also handle alternation compensation.
The Finnish unemployment security system offers two options for the unemployed:
The unemployment security legislation defines the preconditions for receiving unemployment security as well as the level of earnings-related daily allowance. For this reason you are paid earnings-related daily allowance with the same preconditions and in the same amount despite which unemployment fund’s member you are.
Joining an unemployment fund is profitable. For example with monthly income of 1.500 €, the earnings-related daily allowance is approx. 48 € per day in 2015, whereas the basic social security paid by the SII is 32.80 € per day. You can estimate the level of earnings-related daily allowance paid by the unemployment fund with a different amount of income in the daily allowance calculator.
